Symmetry aspects of nonholonomic field theories
The developments in this paper are concerned with nonholonomic field theories in the presence of symmetries. Having previously treated the case of vertical symmetries, we now deal with the case where the symmetry action can also have a horizontal component. As a first step in this direction, we derive a new and convenient form of the field equations of a nonholonomic field theory. Nonholonomic ...
متن کاملRobust MotiodForce Control of Mechanical Systems with Classical Nonholonomic Constraints
Abstrucf-The positiodforce control of mechanical systems subject to a set of classical nonholonomic constraints represents an important class of control problems. In this note, a reduced dynamic model, suitable for simultaneous independent motion and force control, is developed. Some properties of the dynamic model are exploited to facilitate the controller design. Based on the theory of guaran...
متن کاملGünther’s formalism (k-symplectic formalism) in classical field theory: Skinner–Rusk approach and the evolution operator
The first aim of this paper is to extend the Skinner-Rusk formalism on classical mechanics for first-order field theories. The second is to generalize the definition and properties of the evolution K-operator on classical mechanics for first-order field theories using in both cases Günther’s formalism (k-symplectic formalism). متن کاملThe Momentum Map for Nonholonomic Field Theories with Symmetry
We introduce a suitable generalization of the momentum map for nonholonomic field theories and prove a covariant form of the nonholonomic momentum equation. We show that these covariant objects coincide with their counterparts in mechanics by making the transition to the Cauchy formalism.
متن کاملKnot Invariants from Classical Field Theories
We consider the Non-Abelian Chern-Simons term coupled to external particles, in a gauge and diffeomorphism invariant form. The classical equations of motion are perturbativelly studied, and the on-shell action is shown to produce knot-invariants associated with the sources. The first contributions are explicitely calculated, and the corresponding knot-invariants are recognized. We conclude that...
